VILLIERS COMPACT RADIAL GEARBOX

This new gearbox was initially designed to fit the V6 engine when used in compact motorcycle applications. It is unique in that it can run a shaft drive from the rear or a chain or belt drive from the side. The gearbox casing has the mounts for the double or single sided swingarm options cast into it. Its design uses a combination of gears and duplex chains internally which give the options of six or eight speeds.
The prototype gearbox is made and we are currently working on the case design. It will feature first in the Levis Café Racer motorcycle and then other derivatives further down the line.
It also has many applications for use with other Villiers engines as its robust design can handle higher power outputs.
The images show the first mockup of the internal shafts, gears and outer and inner mounting surfaces. The outer case, primary drive and gear linkage mechanism is still under development
